Hydropower harnesses the energy of flowing or falling water to generate electricity, a concept used since ancient civilizations. This study, adopting a descriptive and developmental research design, aimed to determine the materials, procedures, and challenges involved in constructing a hydroelectric generator as an alternative source of energy. Fifty residents of Calasiao, Pangasinan were surveyed to gather data on existing generator types, encountered problems, and proposed improvements. Results showed that diesel generators dominate the community, but issues such as noise, high fuel consumption, and portability concerns persist. A hydroelectric generator prototype was developed to address these concerns, focusing on eco-friendliness, reduced maintenance, and improved mobility. The study concluded that small-scale hydroelectric generators could serve as viable teaching aids in engineering courses and a potential solution to localized energy challenges.
